Some part time opportunities require self employment even when they fail and cause problems when they do.
Does the employer sort out the self employment or is this that you have to do yourself.
Can pensioners work after they have become state pensioners?
Business opportunity that only lasted a short time?
People in receipt of state pensions are permitted to work - the restriction on this was lifted many years ago.
People cannot be self employed if there is an employer! the two are mutually exclusive if you think about it!
I think there are a lot of unscrupulous employers who try and take people on on a self employed basis in order to avoid paying NIC, holiday and sick pay, or providing proper insurance and other terms and conditions. If you get involved in this kind of set up and are prepared to risk it, then you are responsible for declaring your earnings and paying tax to HMRC....but personally I wouldn't touch this kind of arrnagement with a barge pole.
Reply:you should contact CAB for advice and guidance, as regards pensioners working the dept of work and pension need to be informed.
