Do a search on Yahoo with the name of the company and the word 'scam' in the search field.
Typically, you will find a horde of links if there is anything questionable going on with a company.
You can also research the executives - execs that run scam businesses in the home based business industry typically do so over and over, and some sites archive that kind of history. Check http://www.mlmexec.com to see if there is a history, and to know who you are working with.
Your search will also point to sites like ripofferport and http://www.npros.com if there are complaints hanging out there, usually a good sign something is amiss.
How can I find out if a home business opportunity is a fraud?
Look up the company's name at the following sites:
www.ripoffreport.com
www.bbb.org
www.mlmwatchdog.com
Reply:I'm sorry but Dave is totally wrong here. Just because they ask you for an investment, does not make it a fraud. You wouldn't expect to buy a restaurant for nothing, why should you expect to pay nothing for a home business.
The Better Business Bureau offers all of the information you need when investigating a business. But something to consider is your market. The company may be above-board, but perhaps the item you are trying to market has already gone through the hyper-growth stage, meaning all of the large incomes have already been earned.
I have worked home businesses for many years and seen the trends changing. What people are looking for now is health and anti-aging, as well as an alternate stream of income.
When you have a product that really gets you excited, and your company is debt-free, and poised for hyper-growth, you know you are in the right industry.
I have never found more success than what I am doing now, and it is a very legitimate company. Incomes are surpassing anything I have ever seen before. I am not saying that the other companies I was with before are not legit, I am just saying that they have had their hey-day, and it was time to move on to a company that has removed all of the usual obstacles associated with network marketing.
Reply:I found a work at home company is good standing with the Better Business Buerau. I'm with Stayin Home and Lovin It! and they are partnered with a wellness company that is 21 years old.No get rich quick thing, but completely ligit and flexible. I have physical limitations that prevent me from having a job outside the home, so this has been great. All you really need is the internet and a basic understanding of it, nothing high tech, and a phone. There's no selling door to door, no big investment, and no risk. You can not lose anything if you give it a chance. They give great training, tips, and constant support. I am not alone, they really care and want you to make money. If you would like more information you may request more information at http://healthybetterme.com/
Just a little advice in searching for a work at home company. I was scamed so many times before finding this and I would like to let you know a few things I learned.
http://search.bbb.org/ is great to look up any company by name, address, or url. Watch out for the name change game. Most companies change their name to excape their bad reputation so they may not come up on the site because they are newly named. I wouldn't trust any company that the BBB doesn't know about. Good Luck and be careful.
